A higher electricity supply protected with med Snap Panzar™

2022-01-18

The town of Little Grand Rapids in Manitoba, Canada, has had an increased need for electricity supply due to a newly built school, upgraded water supply system and plans for a new nursing station. A higher electricity supply needed to be made possible as the existing submarine cables were too small.

Building with overhead construction or building with poles was not an option due to the geographical location. A submarine cable installation was then chosen. To solve this, the client Manitoba Hydro chose to use 500 pcs Snap Panzar™ 110 mm and 80 pcs Snap Weight™ 18 kg extra mechanical protection for land shore-end installation and in shallow waters. The installation was done with the help of small boats and barges. Divers ensured that the cable ended up in the correct position on the seabed.
